Mount Royal
It would be easy to spend an entire day exploring Mount Royal (entrance is free).
Take a hike to the top of Mount Royal’s highest peak (764 ft/233 m) or stroll down one of the park’s many walking paths. Bike rentals are available from Bixi for about $5 a day in the warmer months and Mount Royal is a beautiful setting for a bike ride. Mount Royal is a great place for birdwatching year round and the park offers free birwatching walks.
In the winter months, Beaver Lake is turned into an ice skating rink (free admission, skate rentals are around $10) and in the warmer months, Mount Royal is a great place to toss a Frisbee or soak up some sun.
Underground City
Take a stroll through Montréal’s Underground City – the largest underground complex in the world. It houses more than 200 restaurants, 1700 boutiques, 30 movie theaters, museums and hotels. Montréal is sometimes referred to as “Two Cities in One” because of its Underground City.
