There is so much to see and do in New York City and springtime is an especially nice time to visit. The weather can change quite a bit from day to day so it’s important to pack well.

Average temperatures in New York City during April and May are a high of 71°F (22°C) and a low of 45°F ( 7°C).

Here are some tips to help you pack for your New York City spring time adventure.

The day can start out cool, get warm during the day and then get chilly at night. Pack clothes that you can easily layer so that you stay comfortable all day long. As the day’s weather changes, you can just take off or put back on what you need to cool off or stay warm.

Rain is almost unenviable in spring, not just in New York City, but in much of the world. Pack a small, compact umbrella that can easily fit into a backpack. You could also skip packing the umbrella and buy an inexpensive one in New York City that also makes a nice souvenir.

Warm Jacket

The nights can still get pretty chilly so a light, but warm jacket can be very helpful. It would be even better if this jacket was water resistant of water proof in case of rain.
