Jazz Hostels is currently seeking a Hostel Manager for Le Jazz St-Denis, in Montreal, Quebec.
A Jazz Hostel Manager manages day-to-day operations of a hostel, with the primary goals of providing exceptional customer service, efficient staff management, and thorough building operations and maintenance. The Manager works in a fast-paced though laid-back environment that offers great opportunities to meet international travelers and gain hospitality experience that would normally take years to achieve in a conventional hotel.
The Hostel Manager is expected to:
Hire, train, manage, and motivate front desk and housekeeping staff

Maintain a high level of cooperation and teamwork in the hostel, placing emphasis on customer satisfaction, hostel cleanliness, and organization, and the “Jazz” vibe at the property

Troubleshoot building issues and work with contractors to ensure that the property is always in good working order and is in compliance with licensing requirements.

Know thoroughly Jazz’ software reservation system in order to train other staff, take reservations at the front desk when required, etc.

Maintain a daily events calendar for guests and ensure that there are daily or weekly outings and trips planned to keep guests entertained

Ensure that hostel and company sales goals are met

Regularly develop ideas for the property’s improvement and for enhancing guests’ experience
- Maintain and increase Jazz's customer ratings online

Regularly conduct market research and track competition

Recommend and develop hostel marketing strategies to drive sales

Perform administrative functions as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
First and foremost Jazz Hostels seeks a Manager who is interested in travel and hospitality, and is able to work well in fast-paced, relaxed environment. Excellent customer service—with an interest in working with international people—computer literacy, and French proficiency (speaking and writing) are must-haves. Proficiency in other languages is a definite plus. Other qualifications are:

COMPENSATION:
