As amazing as traveling is, sometimes it can feel like a lot of work.

Keeping travel as simple as possible is a great way to cut down on stress. There are always unknowns and variables when traveling and these tips can help with them.
1. Travel Light
Travel lighter than you think you need to. Unless you are literally traveling into the jungle, if you really need something, you can buy it at your destination.
2. Arrive Early
Overestimate how long it will take you to get somewhere – the airport, a train or bus station. This way you will have time to figure out logistics, timing, tickets, gates, etc. when you get there and not feel stressed out about missing a connection.
3. Ask Questions
Asking questions is the simplest way to figure things out. Lost? Ask a trustworthy person for directions. Unsure about what’s on the menu? Ask your waiter or other people who are eating.
Going up and talking to complete strangers can be intimidating but it really is the best way to gain your footing when you’re feeling lost.
4. Don’t Over Plan
There may be a hundred things you want to see and do on your trip but trying to fit them all in is usually not realistic without being completely stressed out. Pick out the highlights of what you can’t bear to go home not having seen and let the rest go.
If you’re running around from place to place, there is no time to soak in the atmosphere of your destination. Enjoy yourself, take it slow and savor the experience of being there, not just doing things there.
5. Currency
If you’re traveling somewhere where another currency is used, exchange a small amount of money before leaving. You can exchange more when you arrive but this way you don’t have to worry about finding an ATM, bank or currency exchange as soon as you land.
