There is no place quite like New York City’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve. The people, the parties, the entertainment, the dancing, the singing, the New Year’s Eve ball…the list just goes on and on!

This year’s live entertainment includes performances by Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.

Scheduled events and performances start at 4:00 pm on December 31 and run all the way through midnight. There will be tens of thousands of free hats and balloons given out and live performances throughout the night.

When the ball drops at midnight, there will be confetti released onto Times Square and a fireworks display. You can see the full New Year’s Eve schedule of events here.

Fun Facts:

  • The New Year’s Eve Ball that is dropped at midnight is made from Waterford crystal and weighs11, 875 pounds.
  • The first Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration was in 1904.
  • A ball has been dropped every year in Times Square since New Year’s Eve 1907, with the exception of 1942 and 1943.
  • About 1 million people gather each year in Times Square for the New Year’s Eve celebration.

Check out the Times Square official website for more details about the New Year’s Eve party in New York City.

Have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve – wherever you celebrate it!
