Montreal is a great place to be in the summer for many reasons. Here’s one of the best: Free Shakespeare in the Park!

Free Shakespeare in the Park is a great opportunity to see a free show, have a picnic and hang out with the locals. Pack a bottle of wine, some cheese and crackers and enjoy the evening!
For more than 20 years, Repercussion Theatre has been performing the works of Shakespeare in some of Montreal’s most beautiful parks. This summer, Shakespeare’s very entertaining play Taming of the Shrew will be performed.
If you’re not familiar with the play, here is a description of it from Repercussion Theater’s website:
“Women are crazy! Men are idiots! Throughout the ages, the sexes have felt this way about their opposites at one time or another. For Shakespeare, this conflict inspired sheer, comic genius in The Taming of the Shrew. When fortune-hunting scoundrel Petruchio meets wealthy, shrewish Katharina, sparks fly (and furniture too!) But like any good romantic comedy – when the heated arguments and passionate disdain subside – love prevails.”
The best thing about Shakespeare in the Park is that it’s free! Donations are accepted to support the production.
Shakespeare in the Park will be performed July 11 – August 5, 2012.
