7 Things To Do This October In New York City

October is one of the best times of the year to visit New York City. The temperatures are moderate, and there is beautiful bright autumn foliage!

Central Park

Central Park is beautiful year round but especially so when the leaves are changing color. The bright reds, oranges, yellows, purples and browns are spectacular when they have fully turned.

A great way to take advantage of the autumn weather and views is to rent a rowboat and paddle around the Lake. The Boathouse also has bicycles for rent.

On a really nice day, pack or pick up a picnic lunch and enjoy it in the park.

Oktoberfest

One of the best things about Fall is Oktoberfest. Two weeks of festivities celebrating great beer and food. This year’s Oktoberfest is already underway and continues through October 3rd. However, there are some Oktoberfest celebrations that will be happening into the middle of the month. For more information, check out Oktoberfest 2010 in NYC.

Governors Island

Head over to beautiful Governors Island this fall for music, outdoor activities and an afternoon of Oktoberfest festivities.

There are bike rentals (free on Fridays), an old fort to explore, art galleries, an organic farm, and more.

Well if someone is a fan of beer and food the right place is Germany, Munich in the middle of September. However, I agree about Central Park. It’s the most beautiful park in the world.
